About Us

The Institute of the Incarnate Word was the first branch of the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word to be founded by Fr. Carlos Miguel Buela in 1984.

The Institute which draws its spirituality from the mystery of the Incarnation, was founded on the Solemnity of the Annunication, March 25th, 1984 in San Rafael, Argentina. A few years later Fr. Buela would also found a female branch the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará (SSVM), and a secular Third Order.

By means of the profession of the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, we want to imitate and follow more closely the Incarnate Word in his chastity, poverty and obedience. In addition, we profess a fourth vow of Marian slavery, according to the spirit of St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. By means of this vow, we consecrate our whole lives to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

    • Adoration Chapel's Second Anniversary in Wauchula, FL

Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE) Adoration Chapel Second Anniversary in Wauchula, Florida - St. Michael
Adoration Chapel at St. Michael parish in Wauchula, Florida. (left to right: St. Michael the Archangel, Blessed Sacrament, Our Lady of Lujan)

Jesus said, “Get away, Satan!! …‘The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.’” (Mt. 4: 10). When a Perpetual Adoration Chapel is begun in a parish, you could say that these words of Our Savior are repeated. It is a type of exorcism. On the other hand, in these times when so many parishes are locked for most of the day or week, granting access to the Eucharist is surely no small thing. Before he was the Holy Father, Benedict XVI affirmed that “today we run the risk of having our churches turned into museums and ending like museums: If they are not closed, they are pillaged. They have no life. The measure of the Church’s vitality, the measure of its interior openness, will be reflected in the fact that its doors remain open, precisely because it is a church where there is constant prayer.” [1]

    • The Start of a New Academic Year

Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE) and the Ven. Fulten Sheen House of Formation New Academic Year 2017/18
During the Blessing of the Houses at the Ven. Fulten Sheen House of Formation, on September 8th, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The seminarians of the Institute of the Incarnate Word at the Venerable Fulton Sheen House of Formation are back home to kick-off the new Academic Year! This last summer the seminarians were engaged in many apostolates and activities, such as three popular missions, 30-day spiritual exercises, intensive philosophy courses, and convivencia in Wyoming. It is always a great bless for the seminarians to start a new Academic Year, to return to the studies of philosophy, theology, language, scripture, history, etc.. St. Peter reminds us the importance of studying, “Be ready always with an answer to everyone who asks a reason for the hope that is in you”. (1 Pt. 3:15)

    • The Gospel in Small Town Pennsylvania

Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE) Holy Mission in Avondale, PA; Procession of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Procession on the Feast day of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Avodale, PA.

The popular mission in Avondale, Pennsylvania began on June 12th and concluded with the closing Mass on Sunday, June 25th. The mission was preached by Fr. Mariano Vicchi, IVE, with the assistance of Fr. Emmanuel Martelli, IVE. By the grace of God, this mission was very fruitful principally because of the numerous sacraments that were administered on Friday, June 23rd, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On this day, more than 80 persons received various sacraments including baptism, Holy Communion, confirmation and Holy Matrimony. Further, the parish of St. Rocco’s was consecrated to the Sacred Heart on this day, and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the following day.
